Bruce Mast  began his presentation discussing the procedures for  sewer hookup.  He gave an estimate of $1000.00 for most jobs. Mr. Mast warned the members that “plumbers that do not do many hook ups tend to charge more due to the fact that the companies that do it consistently are booked up due to high volume”.  Mr. Mast proceeded to discuss procedures involved such as crushing the old septic (Florida standard: Tank can never be able to hold water). During this process, homeowners are not to flush toilets or run water for approximately 1-2 hours. Mr. Mast discussed briefly cosmetic options pertaining to the “candy cane” pipe.

John McCarthy addressed the members about Bee Ridge Park possibly being used in a pilot program that ‘s objective is to bring families together by offering things for all age groups.  John discussed a possible “Strider bike” path, Striders bikes are used nationwide to teach kids to ride with balance and would be an asset to our park.  Other ideas were to have a concession stand and wi-fi. The concession stand would offer healthy food and drinks, Sarasota County feels that Bee Ridge Park would be a good location for this.

The association is considering September 3rd. or 10th. for our next clean up park day.

Sgt. Brigit Leonard introduced Deputy Derek Baker who is new to our area.  Sgt. Leonard   spoke briefly about  the “Click it or ticket” program and encouraged members to adhere to the law as it is a $160.00 fine if pulled over for not wearing your seat belt.

Commissioner Patterson offered suggestions for traffic and speeding abatement in our neighborhood. Commissioner offered to look into having digital speed limit sign placed in various problem areas, President Hepfer will follow up with her.

President Hepfer informed the members that Dennis Bunting, who has overseen Bee Ridge Park for the last 7 years, would be retiring on June 30th. The Association presented Dennis with a card and gift certificate. Dennis spoke briefly and assured us that he would continue to be involved with our association.
